ABOUT OUR LESSONS
We provide lessons for all ages and ability levels. Lessons are tailored to help students meet their individual goals. We place a large focus on relationships and we understand the importance of having a good connection with an instructor to allow students to learn in a safe and comfortable environment. In our goal of creating confident and well-rounded equestrians, we have implemented an extensive curriculum focused on acquiring not only riding skills, but groundwork skills, horsemanship skills, and horse care skills. We aim to create a positive, welcoming, and encouraging place to learn. Read more about the lessons we offer below!
Riding lessons
We offer private, semi-private, and group dressage and jumping lessons Monday through Saturday. We teach using a balanced seat approach and focus on the movement of both horse and rider to create unity and harmony within each pair. We believe that through instilling solid foundations and the principles of dressage, the knowledge provided in our lessons will be helpful to riders from any discipline. We have a great group of talented school horses who are able to teach riders of all levels, from students learning the basics to students working on connection and feel. When getting started with lessons, students can first expect to learn about the most effective riding position that allows them to be the easiest for the horse to carry. Riders will then move into more complex subjects such as feel, timing, application of aids, contact, and collection. We like to think of riding as a dance between two partners where there is an ongoing shift between the roles of follower and leader. Having a clear line of communication between horse and rider is so important to the success of the ride. Let us help you understand the beautiful dance that is riding!
Liberty and Ground Work Lessons
If you have the desire to build a stronger relationship with your horse or one of our school horses, liberty lessons will be a great addition to your education! Liberty lessons allow students to gain a greater understanding about how body language can have a tremendous effect on the horse, allowing them to become more aware of how to use it to communicate with the horse more clearly. Not only will we focus on the student’s body language, but we will also discuss the body language of the horses and how that might influence what you do in different scenarios. In addition to focusing on body language, we also consider our energy and intention behind the work and this can be where some of the clearest communication happens. When the student is ready, we will move into groundwork where we use tools like a halter and lead or a lunge line. During groundwork, students understand why the clear communication and trust established during liberty work makes groundwork seem so simple. We like to think of groundwork as simply being liberty work with a line attached to the horse. Whether you spend most of your time with horses on the ground or in the tack, the skills taught during liberty and groundwork lessons will be very beneficial!
In-Hand Lessons
Come experience the transformative benefits of in-hand lessons! In-hand work provides students with a deeper understanding of equine balance and movement. By approaching training from a different perspective, students refine skills crucial for success in the saddle, preparing them for the next step in their riding. With a focus on rein connection, feel, and timing, students develop a heightened awareness of their horse's responses and movements. Witness the immediate impact of adjustments on your horse's performance and learn skills that seamlessly complement those used while riding. Elevate your horsemanship to new heights with this invaluable tool!
Traveling Services
In addition to providing lessons at our facility, we also travel, bringing expert instruction directly to you and your horse for maximum convenience and effectiveness.
